Bird in a Cage

I took inspiration from Jo's blog blog but actually my card has turned out to be completely different!

I started with a centre step card  in Very Vanilla - see SCS for a brilliant tutorial on how to make this.

The background paper is Newsprint DSP which has been torn and inked with chocolate chip.  The bird has been punch out in Crumb Cake using the Two Step Bird Punch.   The bird cage is hanging from the scroll in the  Strength and Hope Stamp Set - I hadn't realised how versatile that set was until I  needed something to go at the top - without it the bird cage wouldn't be attached to anything and look a bit odd I think.

The foliage on the side panels comes from the Tiny Tags stamp set - again another very versatile set.  The little tags have been punched out with the Jewellery Tag Punch and attached to the card with a brad.  I've added rhinestones for the bird's eye and also the top of the thread of the birdcage for a bit of sparkle.

I've made this card for a friend - I hope he likes it!

It has been submitted to the following challenges:
